WHAT IS EPIC CONCERTS?

EPIC CONCERTS is a new musical dissemination project.

Sternalia Productions has been dedicated to cultural dissemination for years. Until now we have carried out scientific and historical dissemination and, within the world of art, we have dedicated ourselves to furniture art. In our desire for culture, we want to go further and take another step, now towards the great world of music. 

Epic Concerts are characterized by promoting non-commercial musical genres in a smaller and more accessible format than would be usual in this type of concert. We are talking about opera, zarzuela, jazz, tango and flamenco concerts, but offering a more enjoyable formula. We want to introduce these genres to new audiences who are not used to this type of music. Is there an intermediate point between never having been to an opera and attending one that lasts more than 3 hours? Yes, an Epic Concert.

They are also characterized by the quality of the artists. The Epic Concerts are performed by artists world-renowned for their high level. We cannot make art known without making the artist known.  We dedicate the entire point 3 of this dossier to all the artists who make this musical dissemination project possible.

Finally, Epic Concerts aims to bring these musical genres closer to the general public and, when we say bring closer, we mean it almost literally. We organize these concerts in unique and relatively small spaces that allow a very close and intimate experience with music. It’s easier to get carried away by live music when you have the artist just a few meters away.

THE NÚRIA PLA HOUSE MUSEUM

The Núria Pla House Museum is an old building from 1930 located in the Guinardó neighborhood, within the Ramón Pla i Armengol gardens. It was intended to be a pharmaceutical laboratory and home of the renowned Pla family. Currently, this heritage space has been converted into a house-museum to house the most important collection of antique furniture in Europe: the Núria Pla collection. Núria’s passion for culture and the arts led her to start the incredible collection of furniture and decorative arts objects, of more than 800 pieces from the 14th to 19th centuries. It is a cultural space that mixes a scientific past and an artistic present, with a perfect event room to continue our task of artistic dissemination, in this case, music.

WHAT CONCERTS ARE SCHEDULED?

THE THREE TENORS

This concert pays tribute to the famous recitals of The Three Tenors, which were performed by famous opera singers Luciano Pavarotti, José Carreras and Plácido Domingo.  The three great tenors Facundo Muñoz, Oscar Encinas and Eduardo Ituarte, accompanied on piano by Graham Lister, will be the stars of the night. They perform the best opera, Neapolitan songs and a magnificent selection of Spanish and American popular songs.

WHAT ARTISTS PERFORM THESE CONCERTS?

Graham Lister, pianist

Scottish artist, he graduated as a pianist and singer in 1981 from the prestigious Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. She later expanded her studies by completing two postgraduate degrees, specializing in Lied, Chanson and Oratorio in the first year, and as an Opera singer and repertoireist during the second year.

He has worked at the Scottish Opera, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the Gran Teatre del Liceu. He has worked with many great directors such as Mehta, Muti, Giulini, Ozawa, Sawallisch, Pretre, Abbado, Schreier, Chung, Gerghiev and Tate.

In his pianistic role he has accompanied numerous instrumentalists and singers, such as the famous baritone Rolando Panerai and Andrea Boccelli. He was the official accompanist for a series of master classes by the great tenor Franco Corelli.

Romina Krieger, soprano

Italo-Argentine soprano, trained in Italy, at the Conservatory

Saint Cecilia of Rome. He has performed at the Estate Fiesolana Festival, Luglio Trapanese, Teatros de Gubbio, Alcamo, Rieti and Rome. In Spain he has performed for the prestigious Barnboim-Said Association in Seville, at the Palau de La Música Catalana and at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. 

Currently he combines his career as a singer with his great passion: the dissemination of opera. Since 2021, she has been the artistic director of the Ópera amb Gràcia Festival.

Medicine of Catalonia

The Royal Academy of Medicine of Catalonia is located in one of the buildings most important neoclassical buildings in Barcelona, ​​the old Royal College of Cirujanos, which stood out for its spectacular anatomical amphitheater built by Ventura Rodríguez in 1760. Great personalities of the world
of medicine have left their mark on the history of this building, like Pere Virgili, Dolors Aleu, Antoni de Gimbernat or Santiago Ramón y Cajal. With a surround acoustics, typical of amphitheatres, the concerts in this space emblematic have a unique sound

The Nuria Pla House Museum is a private institution dedicated to supporting medical research, the dissemination of Christianity and the study of the most important collection of antique furniture in Europe.

Royal Academy of
Pharmacy of Catalonia

Walking through the cloister of what was the old Hospital of the Holy Cross, we came across the hospital’s Pharmacy, originally from 1417, currently the headquarters of the Royal Academy of Pharmacy of Catalonia, which carefully preserves the furniture, the original ceramic containers and the window from 1696, used to deliver medicines.
